« EU – France – Turkey : Common targets and challenges in the context of international crisis »

Institut du Bosphore organized, in collaboration with Global Relations Forum (GRF), a virtual roundtable entitled « EU – France – Turkey : Common targets and challenges in the context of international crisis ». The webinar held with the participation of GRF President Selim Yenel and Institut du Bosphore President Bahadir Kaleagasi aimed to provide a tour d’horizon, during the France’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, on how the Ukrainian crisis would shape the debate on the future of Europe. Mr. Bernard Guetta,  MEP(Renew Europe Group), Member of Committee on Foreign Affairs and Delegation to the EU-Russia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, European Parliament, Mr. Thierry de Montbrial, Founder and Executive Chairman of IFRI (French Institute of International Relations) and Emeritus Professor  Füsun Türkmen, Former Chair, Department of International Relations at Galatasaray University and Honorary President, International Network of Senghor Chairs for Francophony, shared their views on common challenges and opportunities from the EU – France – Turkey triangular perspective, and the critical importance of Turkey’s role within the transatlantic alliance as well as their expectations from the new government to be established in France.  During the debate moderated by Ms. Barçın Yinanç, independent journalist, participants highlighted the necessary return to rationalism to reset EU – France – Turkey relationship considering new realities of our century aggravated by Russia – Ukraine war, and underlined in this context the following issues: trust, predictability, rule of law, freedoms; international security architecture & European strategic autonomy as well as an updated EU – Turkey Customs Union & differentiated integration…
