09 Apr Institut du Bosphore Scientific Committee Meeting, 9 April 2026
The virtual meeting of the Institut du Bosphore Scientific Committee, co-chaired by Ms Ümit Boyner and Mr Xavier Hürstel, was held on 9 April 2026 under the theme “Türkiye–France–EU Relations: New Horizons in a Shifting Geopolitical Landscape.”
The debate was introduced by Ms Hélène Conway-Mouret, Vice-Chair of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed Forces Committee of the French Senate. She shared her analysis of recent geopolitical developments, drawing in particular on the briefing report she submitted to the French Senate on the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base, entitled BITDE : une ambition à muscler, published in December 2025.
Ms Selva Demiralp, Professor of Economics at Koç University, also contributed to the discussion with an assessment of the economic implications of ongoing regional crises and geopolitical developments for Türkiye and the global economy.
The roundtable discussion, chaired by Mr Bahadır Kaleağası, President of the Institut du Bosphore, provided an opportunity to examine the evolving strategic environment and discuss its potential impact on Türkiye–France relations and the broader European framework.
