The virtual meeting of the Scientific Committee was held on 7 May 2025 on the theme «Türkiye – EU : Time to progress within and between in a changing global order ».

Following Institut du Bosphore Scientific Co-President Ms. Ümit Boyner’s opening remarks, two distinguished economists, Ms. Derya Hekim and Mr. Eric Chaney shared their insights on global trade tensions and explored their ramifications for Türkiye, the European Union, and France. Following their assessments, Institut du Bosphore Scientific Committee Member Mr. Denis Verret offered his perspective on Türkiye’s role in the context of European strategic autonomy, drawing from his recent contribution to the Institut du Bosphore’s “Strategic Brief” series.  During the tour de table chaired by Institut du Bosphore President Bahadır Kaleağası, discussions offered a comprehensive tour d’horizon of the shifting global and regional dynamics, exploring Türkiye’s evolving role in the face of mounting geopolitical tensions, challenges to multilateralism, and the reconfiguration of economic and security frameworks in Europe. Particular attention was given to Türkiye’s strategic positioning within global value chains and its engagement in emerging European initiatives, including defence cooperation and high-level economic dialogues.
