Message from the President of Institut du Bosphore, Haluk Tukel

"In creating Institut du Bosphore our goal is to open a new chapter in dialogue between Turkey and its partners. Creating a platform for dialogue between people involved in our shared economic, social and intellectual life has turned out to be both a unique yet natural initiative.

Conceived as an organisation to foster ongoing, free and objective debate, Institut du Bosphore tackles the full range of geopolitical, economic, general society and cultural issues, in order to highlight Turkey's involvement in the international fabric of society, and in particular its proximity to France and the European Union.

Acting as a bridge between public opinion in different countries, our organisation will enable people to have a more accurate, true and sharply focused view of our similarities and differences, which is the first step to building deeper and more durable mutual understanding.

As an independent organisation, Institut du Bosphore brings together French and Turkish personalities from many different worlds: politics, business, finance, sociology, science and academics, all seeking to review the little known and often misunderstood nature and objectives of Turkish society by holding events such as seminars, meetings and debates and issuing publications.

With the opening of our website we seek to broaden our perspective and share our conviction that dialogue between cultures is the only road that leads to friendship between peoples."
